Prepare to teach present truth to others!
God has called his church to raise the truth before all men. That truth is found in God's Word, the Holy Bible. "Sanctify them in your truth: your word is truth." (John 17:17). Truth that has come to us inspired by the Third Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.
But there is a special truth for the time in which we live, this is the present truth; a truth that must be proclaimed the same as the other, but also urgently. "For this reason, I will not cease to admonish you always of these things, even if you know them, and are confirmed in the present truth." 2 Peter 1:12
The very word says "Present Truth" God for every era of history has had a message for his people, and this message must be imparted to the generation in which he lives.
"In each age there is a new development of the truth, a message from God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; the new truth is not independent of the old, but a development of it. It is only by understanding the old truths as we can understand the new ". - {PVGM 98.3}
Note this illuminating quote, the old truth is not the present truth, the old truth is only a stepping stone to know the new truth that was developed based on the old truth, that is, God gives us a present truth to understand and preach it container to the old truth.
What is the present truth in our day? The following quote sheds light on what is present truth today.
"There are many precious truths in the Word of God, but it is" present truth "that the flock needs. I have seen the danger that messengers stray from the important points of present truth to focus on issues. that do not tend to unite the flock or sanctify the soul. In this, Satan will use every possible advantage to harm the cause. But issues such as the sanctuary, in relation to the 2300 days, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, are perfectly adequate to explain the Advent movement. " - {PE 63.1}
In this quote, Ellen White places the themes of the sanctuary, the 2,300 days, the Commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus, as part of the "Present Truth." In other quotes she also talks about the importance of studying the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation:
"A much more careful study of the Word of God is needed; especially Daniel and the Apocalypse must receive attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some respects, regarding the Roman power and the papacy; but we must call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit has arranged things, in the way of giving the prophecies and in the events described ". - {TM 112.2}
Based on this context, we will make a list of topics that have to do with "Present Truth", topics that should not be lacking in Adventist pulpits and in conferences where the Word of God is preached:
Topics such as: The sanctuary, The message of the three angels, the health reform, the second coming of Christ, the judgment, the plagues, the mark of the beast and the seal of God, the shaking, the latter rain, the king of the north and the king of the south, justification by faith, sanctification, the Sunday law, the image of the beast, Jacob's time of trouble, the departure of the cities, Armageddon, the antichrist and 666, the true church, the fall of Babylon, the death wound of the beast, Matthew 24 and the final events, the close of probation, the millennium, the new earth, the Commandments of God, ecumenism, spiritism, Satanic deceptions, the Saturday etc ...
But as we see, these themes have diminished in many Adventist pulpits, and themes that we can hear in other Protestant churches are being preached, we have fallen into a spiritual and accommodating lukewarm.
"I saw that we do not have to waste time listening to fables. Our thoughts should not be distracted like this, but occupied with the present truth and in the search for wisdom, in order to obtain a more thorough knowledge of our position, so that with meekness we can give reason for our hope based on the Scriptures. While false doctrines and dangerous errors are inculcated in the mind, it cannot be distracted by the truth that will prepare the house of Israel to subsist in the day of the Lord. " - {PE 125.1}
